Derwent Retreat is a luxurious modern house situated on Stony point in historic Austins Ferry at the site of the original Hestercombe Inn built by George Govett who ran a ferry across the Derwent in the 1820's.
The property is close to a shopping centre, the Glenorchy and Hobart CBD's, some of Tasmania’s largest employers and the best tourist attractions north of Hobart including Moorilla, Cadburys, Alpenrail, Richmond, Bonorong Wildlife Park, Salmon ponds and the Derwent valley. Claremont Golf and Bowls Clubs are both only a couple of kilometres away. The property is fully furnished, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, barbecue, towels, linen, TV, etc. It sleeps eight people and one baby and all rooms have majestic views of the river and Mt Wellington. Derwent Retreat is is surrounded by water or parks and located a short drive or walk away through Austin Park to a public launching ramp and yacht club. It has a large garden, small basketball court (for non professionals!) and many natural rock features.
Derwent retreat is rented short to medium term at competitive rates and is suitable for business people looking for somewhere to stay, a retreat or quiet place to work or holiday makers keen on sampling the many attractions that the Hobart region is famous for.
Derwent Retreat is self contained and fully furnished. The property sleeps up to eight people and one baby in a portacot and all rooms have majestic views of the river and Mt Wellington. It has a master bedroom with queen sized bed and ensuite with shower and toilet. A second bedroom with a double bed and bedroom with two single beds are served by a second bathroom and separate toilet.
The property has a modern fully equipped kitchen with microwave, hotplates, stove and fridge. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer. On the balcony there is a gas barbecue and second dining table and chairs. All linen and crockery are provided and there is a TV, stereo etc. central heating or wood stove for warmth, a local call only telephone, wireless internet for business and large garden with many natural rock features and small basketball court for relaxation.

Facilities of the Elderly and Physically Handicapped
There are two steps to the front door with a rail on the right side. The foyer and living room are on this level and then there are two steps down again to the dining, kitchen bathrooms and bedrooms which are all on the one level.
Hand rails are installed on the two steps down to the dining room, in the main toilet and next to the bath.
