Lythgo’s Row was named in honour of William Lythgo, an ex-convict who built the building in 1845. It now operates as self-contained (bed and breakfast) cottage accommodation
The heritage listed building is situated in Pontville, a Georgian village of historical significance. We are just a 25 minute drive along the Derwent River from the centre of Hobart and most of the southern tourist destinations (Port Arthur, Huon Valley, Mt Field National Park, etc) are in day-trip distance. It is just a 15 minute drive to Richmond.
There are three fully self-contained cottages. Two are two bedroom and the third has a double bedroom and a sitting room upstairs. Downstairs are the kitchen, lounge room (with open fireplace) and bathroom/laundry.
The cottages are available with or without breakfast. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, bacon, eggs, tomato and freshly baked bread with a selection of spreads. I provide the provisions for breakfast and you prepare it yourself – except for the bread which I bake and deliver in the morning. There are complimentary chocolates and port on arrival.
The private residence, including a reception area) is attached to the cottages which are in the form of terrace houses.
Tariffs are $135/couple/night, with breakfast, and $120/couple/night without. There are additional charges for extra adults and/or children.
We offer a 10% discount for seniors, pensioners and singles. If the stay is more than 4 nights the 5th or 6th night is free. Seven nights are offered at the same price as five.
The accommodation has been classified as 4 star by AAA and is accredited with the Tourism Council of Tasmania.
