Multi Award winning traditional B&B, built from the reclaimed wall of Hobart's Old Penitentiary. "Brilliant" Cultural Heritage Show (45mins) at Grannie Rhodes' Cottage 1830 on site; “Turn the Key of Time“. This 45min unique production won a Highly Commended Award in the Tourism Tasmania Awards 2006 Cultural Heritage section.

Mulberry Cottage is a charming, hosted B&B, in an “olde worlde” cottage, built from the reclaimed wall of Hobart’s Old Penitentiary.

The B&B offers either the Old English Room (King bed) and garden/valley view or the cheeky French Boudoir (Queen bed and single) both with en-suites and TV. Both these rooms have access to a shared guest sitting room with fridge, microwave etc. and a separate entrance in the Garden Wing.

The unspoilt 1830’s cottage is used as the stage for the unusual telling of two centuries of amazing true stories, a unique, entertaining, multi- sensory experience of history, about a cottage a key and a convict. This is not quite like anything you may have seen before.

Be “transported”. Solve a couple of mysteries; why did Grannie come to Van Diemen’s Land and why were there 200 sticks of dynamite buried in her garden. arden Wing. Or Granny’s Attic rooms, upstairs, in the main house, with private bathroom, or with possible share bathroom, one is a queen the other a twin. There are two guest lounges and rustic gardens, a welcome drink, greeting retrievers and a cuddly cat.

B&B is 300 metres walk from the centre of the historic village of Richmond.

Set well back from the road in rustic gardens with valley views. A short walk to the oldest bridge in Australia the Coal River, Tasmania's oldest gaol and oldest catholic church, interesting galleries and boutiques, great restaurants and wineries close by.
